By golly, they listened! Honeycomb and full grid infill.

It's not announced yet, but go to cloud.simplify3d.com and download version 3.0. It's awesome! A bunch of new infill options now available, including full honeycomb! Proof: http://i.imgur.com/PNINh15.png

I did the account upgrade thing on that cloud page, but never got the setup email. Tried a username recovery and it's just blank - doesn't give me a username (which means I can't recover my probably auto-generated password). I WANT TO PLAY WITH V3!

that's just marvel arse.

Got my account stuff sorted, playing with settings now.

Other new HUGE things I noticed:

• Inflation distance on bridging! No longer will the ends of my bridges fall off because S3D only put a .1mm overlap for the bridge layer.
• honeycomb honeycomb honeycomb
• "Perform retraction during wipe movement" sounds very nice.
• "Avoid crossing the part outline for travel movements"
• Support Type - From Build Platform Only sounds very useful in certain situations!
• There's a new scripting slot for 'retractions.' Not sure I'll use this immediately, but I have some half formed thoughts of where it might be useful.
• We can define Toolhead Offsets in S3D now. Not sure if there's a way to disable that, as I've got mine written into the firmware. Probably doesn't matter? Maybe I just leave at 0 when they're defined in firmware? Unsure.
• Filament Density.

Scaling can now be done by size as well as percentage. In fact the entire scaling dialog box is new and improved.

....and it looks as if it'll be easier to save and reload profile settings!

Much, much better!

Place Surface on Bed!

Feels like they just went through and did everything in the feature request subforum. That's nice. I like this.

Edit - just because I feel I must. Would've been even nicer if S3D staff had popped into all the feature request threads that they addressed and just said 'We're working on this for the next version.' I was seriously considering switching slicers until this showed up, just because I had no idea when the next version was coming, or what it would address.

They haven't even announced this version, or updated the website to highlight it. They could still make some announcements in the forum.

Oh, I bet they will when they officially announce it. I just mean, it's been what, 8 months since 2.2.2? With basically no word from the devs as to whether anything was even happening.
