How to turn on left extruder only?

New to this and need help. I have struggled, searched the forum, searched the Web, but I still can't tell how to print from only my left extruder on my Flashforge Creator Pro w/ Sailfish firmware. Even when I set things up for extruder 1, and delete 0, the code written to the SD card still prints from 0, the right head. I know there's something obvious I'm missing, but what? TIA !

You don't need to delete extruder/tool 0. Go Help > Configuration Assistant, and select the FlashForge so you have the S3D profile. Then Hit Edit Process Settings and in the top right for extruders, select left.

Re: How to turn on left extruder only?

I'm new to Simplify. I have the Flasfhforge creator pro. I want to use the right extruder only. I followed your instructions by chosing the Right Extruder on the right drop down button. Then I went under the extruder list and chose the right extruder then over to the extruder tool head index and chose Tool 0. The I went to print and its coming out on the left extruder. Am I missing some other configurations?

Re: How to turn on left extruder only?

You don't need to select the right extruder on any of the actual tabs. Just load the stock FlashForge Creator Pro profile and then choose "Right Extruder Only" for the "Auto-Configure Extruders" option. No other changes are needed.

If you did exactly that and things aren't working, post your factory file so we can check your settings (file > save factory file)

FYI - Choosing an item on the Extruders tab only loads the settings for that extruder so you can edit them. It doesn't do anything to determine which extruder is actually used, it just allows you to change per-extruder settings since S3D can actually give different extruders different retraction settings.
