Power supply

The power supply on my Prusa i3 just gave up the ghost, only had it a few months, cheep Chinese junk.
Can any one recommend a decent model.
I am toying with the idea of converting a computer supply, are there any negative thoughts on this idea.

Re: Power supply

I'd say No is the answer.

The power brick for my printer was bad and while I waited for a replacement I used and old PC/AT power supply I had lying around. My printer required 12V input so I just cut the wires from the bad bower brick, stripped off about 1/2" of insulation, and stuck the bare ends into the yellow & black holes in one of the several connectors on the power supply.

It is important to know which is + and which is - but this was not difficult for me since my printer is built from a kit and the instructions identify which motherboard power connection is which.

If I were doing this on a permanent basis I'd solder the wires together and eliminate the plastic connector that is part of the power supply.
