For some reason my supports aren't building high enough. They stop a few layer short and don't end up actually supporting anything. I'm using the FlashForge Creator Pro. The reason I'm asking on here is because using Makerbot Software the supports work perfectly. So it's got to be some setting in Simplify 3D. Any advice would be appreciated!
Go to the 'Support' tab in the process settings and check the value for 'Upper Vertical Separation Layers'. Try a setting of 1.
It's normal that there is a tiny gap, this is by design. It stops the first layer of the overhang being pressed too hard into the supports and creating a strong bond. The idea is that the supports should break away easily. This does mean that the overhang might droop very slightly but in most applications it's not noticeable. If you want more precision, you could use dissolvable supports (HIPS/PVA) and set the upper and lower separation layers to zero.
