Robo3D R1+ - Under extrusion issue?

Following the print troubleshooting guide and comparing it to my issue I thought it looked like under-extrusion, so I bumped up the extrusion multiplier to 1.0 from .9 (printing PLA. using the stock medium profile for the standard auto-leveling fff. Any help is greatly appreciated, I'm just starting off with S3D and get pretty good prints with MatterControl but I was looking for more control and better supports.

Thank you!

The First picture is 100% out of the box S3D fff on medium PLA
Second/Third pictures are with the extruder multiplier bumped to 1.0

Re: Robo3D R1+ - Under extrusion issue?

Just a word of advice - you have to be careful testing for under-extrusion if you are only printing 1 or 2 layers. The amount of plastic on those layers can be GREATLY affected by your first layer position and bed leveling. So if that is even a tiny bit off, it will impact the first few layers.

You are much better off printing 20 or so layers and then seeing if it still looks like it's under-extruding after it's printed 20 layers

Thank you. I'm trying to be sure the bed is level now. Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of adjustments on this printer.

Usually when your first layer is solid in one corner and spaced in another, it is leveling. Not always, however...sometimes the heater works great at first, but cannot keep up with demand when printing faster than its capability.

Re: Robo3D R1+ - Under extrusion issue?

I'm having the exact same issue with my Robo3D R1 Plus. In fact, I ran the same calibration print in both S3D and MatterControl and the S3D print looked very underextruded in comparison. MC was perfect. This is a drag because hands-down, I feel that S3D is far superior in every way. I took photos and sent to tech support, so I hope they can answer.

One thing I wonder - is the a Z offset adjustment in S3D like the one in MC listed under "Printer"?

Re: Robo3D R1+ - Under extrusion issue?

You are going to have to adjust the Z-height in S3D as well. Even if MC is perfectly calibrated, that doesn't mean anything for S3D.

This explains how to do it pretty well: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/prin ... to-the-bed
