New S3D thinks my stl files are XYZ files

Just installed S3D version 3.1 and now it wont print any of my stl files since for some reason S3D recognizes them as XYZ files. WTF?

What do you mean it won't print them? Can you still go to File > Import Models and select your STL file?

Have you recently installed XYZware for da vinci? That could be the culprit, try right clicking on an STL file and in the open with context menu set the default to Simplify3D if that's what you want it to open with

FYI - Although I no longer have XYZware installed for several reasons, one day I needed it for a test and re-installed it. It changed all the .stl file icons to xyz .3w icons but I was still able to use them in s3d.

It bugged me and, after un-installing XYZware, the icon association remained. I use a Mac and installed osxutils - then, via Terminal (like a dos command window) a couple of command lines enabled me to bulk change all the .stl icons to whatever icon I wanted (I created a quick, no-frill icon - attached - if you want to use it, change the extension from .png to stl or whatever you need [can't upload image.stl here] ).

I do not have XYZ ware. S3D v3.1 gives the error message when I select "prepare to print". I uninstalled version 3.1 and reinstalled 3.02 and the issue went away. I have been printing with 3.0x for months with no problems. The error says something to the effect that XYZ files are only usable on a XYZ machine, or something like that, and then the model disappears.
So for what its worth, there's my bug report. I am back printing just fine again with the downgrade to 3.02

I've used repetier on mine as well. Just remove all of the post-processing commands since you don't need them with repetier. Then you can choose gcode for the file format and it will stay that way.

If you're not interested in changing it to enable using gcode, make the change anyway - it will stop the error message.

Repetier has nothing (directly) to do with S3D.

However, many 3d printers use Repetier firmware and, like many others, I blew away the firmware in my DaVinci printer and installed Repetier firmware for many reasons (google it if interested why people do it).

So, with Repetier installed, S3D needs to know it's no longer a DaVinci (only because they now (v3.1) added the field in the above panel that defaults to DaVinci (perhaps only if using a DaVinci process as a starting point for a process). There is code in the Repetier software that identifies the printer as DaVinci so, maybe S3D looks for id's...).

Either way, the point in my response was 'stopping the Warning' as gcode is generic.

I use Marlin for the firmware. I don't use Repetier for anything that I'm aware of. Are you saying the firmware identifies the machine as a XYZ machine? Or the firmware causes S3D to recognize the files as XYZ files? I'm not getting how Repetier ties into this. I will look closer at the Firmware for anything that ID's the machine as a XYZ machine. Thanks for the help.
