[ADDED] Dual Material Support Structures

Obviously, S3D already has the ability to use one extruder to generate support structures using a different extruder, but in the interest of minimizing the use of expensive support materials, I think it would convenient if you could set your dense supports to be a different material. This way, you could have your normal supports be, say, PLA, and have your dense supports be PVA, so you only need to use the more expensive PVA for areas directly supporting the main structure.

do a process for the part as, material one
do a process for the support with lets say 5 interface layers se interface to 0% dence at 20%, material 2
do a process for the support with the same amount of interface set interface to 60% and dense to 0%, material 3

this will do what you suggest, its just more complicated.

I am happy to say that this feature has now beed added in Version 4.0! If you go to the Supports tab, you can now configure the "Dense Support Extruder" as well as the regular support extruder. This allows you to use a different extruder for the dense support layers near the surface of the part.

As you mentioned, this can save a great deal of money by reducing the usage of soluble materials, so we hope you enjoy the new feature!
