How to use the SD card with Simplify3D

Is there a step by-step walk-through for using the SD card?

I do not see a "print to file" or "save to SD card" ?

I figure I must be missing something obvious.

Just click the Prepare button after you have the models and processes all setup and then choose the SD card as the destination. Prepare is essentially the button to slice and export the G-Code. We also tried to put helpful tooltips all through out the program, so you can try hovering the mouse over a UI element to figure out what it does if it isn't clear.

So the idea is that the firmware on the RAMBO is able to digest .gcode files?

I am used to the RepG toolchain where the gcode gets turned into an s3g/x3g . . . it never occurred to me to put a gcode file on the SD.

OK, looks like I am happily printing from the SD card now.

By the way searching for "sd card" in this forum gives nothing but an error.

Currently to copy to the sd card you must take the SD card out of your printer and put it in your computer.

Then either copy your gcode file that you have created to the SD card or when you "Prepare" a file select the SD card and save your file there.
(I would recomend only using a 6 letter or less file name.)

Then put the SD card back in your printer.

Now you can select run from sd card and select your file.

Its a pain but when ever I do a large file its really the way to go. When you are running from the sd card your computer doesnt factor in.

I believe you can unhook the usb cable and your printer will continue to run. (I havent tried it but it should work)

Yes MiseryBot, that never occurred to me either. It appears this software is so simple it confuses me. At least that's how it's looking so far. If this is so I will be very happy to unlearn that wall of crap I've beaten my head against the last 2 years.
