[ADDED] First Layer Speed on Raft

The high speeds for the first layer of a part using a raft is currently way off.
No matter how you slice, it will always use your maximum speed.
Now with this error in the slicer raft´s are almost useless to me if dual extruding with support materials.

I suggest to separate the speed into "First Layer Speed Bed" and "First Layer Speed Part" in case raft is enabled.

Re: First Layer Speed on Raft

There is a reason for the first layer above the raft being printed at a higher speed......to help stop the first layer of the part adhering solidly to the raft!

Slow it down.....and the raft will be in danger of being an integral part of your printed component! This may not be an issue for you printing with different materials....but for all those who only have a single extruder, what you're suggesting is fatal!!

Re: First Layer Speed on Raft

Thanks for a good answer. That makes total sense.
I still like for the Defaults to be as it is now. But i like an advanced option for this. ;)

Just so you know. Makerbot Print (GrabCAD) have this feature.

Re: First Layer Speed on Raft

I am happy to say that this request has now been added in version 4.0. Click "Edit Process Settings", go the Additions tab, and you can now define the "Above Raft Speed", which is the speed that is used for the first layer of the part on top of the raft. This can be a big help to improve the surface quality on the bottom of the part, so thanks for the great suggestion!
