Perimeter gaps everywhere...

Hi - I've tried slicing this model every which way I can and can't get s3d to do it without little gaps in the perimeter. Cura has no issue with the model.

Here's an image to show what's going on...

Here's the stl file;

Any help would be greatly appreciated - using Taz 6 with 0.5mm nozzle, 0.2mm layers, tried every variety of number of perimeters (1-3_, played with gap fill and overlap settings and much more all to no avail...

Help!!!

Thanks!

Re: Perimeter gaps everywhere...

There is no issue with a 0,40 mm-nozzle and 0,48 mm ExtrusionWidth

Try to reduce your extrusionwidth to nozzle diameter.

If I remember your picture there are red lines. Red lines are not any issues but travel ways of the print head. You can switch off them.

Re: Perimeter gaps everywhere...

The "little gaps in the perimeter" in the preview are not little gaps in the final printed model! They are in fact where the extruder is backing off as part of the retraction process.

Temporarily switch retraction off and look at the preview again.....no gaps! Turn it back on afterwards....and do the print!

Re: Perimeter gaps everywhere...

OK - I can't try that right now because I'm in the middle of a print - are you referring to my coasting settings? This doesn't appear in any other models I've printed recently with the same retraction/coasting settings?

I'm using a 0.5mm nozzle for this print and I've always used 0.4mm as the slicing dimension with 0.5mm nozzles and never had any issues? Should I try 0.6mm for the slicing dimension?

And there are gaps in the final print! And other models that don't show the gaps and have the same coasting settings print fine?

-thanks!

Re: Perimeter gaps everywhere...

What is your extrusion width?
0.48mm?

I read your extrusion width should be a multiple of your nozzle diameter.
Try changing your extrusion width to 0.5mm and see if that fixes the problem.
