better control of bridging directions

I have several times had problems with the direction of the infill when bridging resulting in failed or usually very ugly bridging.
Attached is an example of weird behaviour. This case must be some kind of bug as it can not be the intended result in bridging, but a feature to better control the direction of bridging infill could be useful as i have had other cases where the infill direction is very sub optimal.

Could you share your factory file for this print? I'd like to see if I get similar results on my printer.

That doesn't look like bridging is being detected in the areas in the screenshot.

I think you may need to lower the bridging area threshold so that the unsupported areas are correctly seen as requiring bridging.
