Starting Script issues

Just bought S3D and loaded profile for my Cerality CR-10 printer.
I have issues with starting the print. It homes all axes, does something and then just moves straight into front left binder clip and starts DRAGGING it across..
:(
I'm using default starting script:

Code: Select all

G28 ; home all axes
G1 Z5 F3000 ; lift
G1 X20 Y2 F1500 ; avoid binder clips
G1 Z0.2 F3000 ; get ready to prime
G92 E0 ; reset extrusion distance
G1 X120 E10 F600 ; prime nozzle
G1 X150 F5000 ; quick wipe
What I really would love to be able to do is to heat up bed, home all axes then, LIFT z a little, start heating it up then move to print start position, lower nozzle and start printing. Is this possible?

Re: Starting Script issues

Sure, you can edit the starting script to do that. The homing, heating, and movement commands are explained at the link below if you haven't used gcode before:

What you describe here is the nozzle priming process....which virtually everyone will suggest you do not get rid of! You can see the lines in the starting script that are commented as being for this.

What you really need to do is to tweak the line commented "Avoid binder clips" so it actually does avoid the clip!

Re: Starting Script issues

Thanks guys! Yeah I changed it so lifts nozzle after homing, then goes to middle of the bed, lowers, blobs and wipes...
Seems to be working.
I'm just surprised original code was there in the cloud profile for CR-10, I have standard CR-10 printer so it would affect anyone who uses this profile, right? :)

Re: Starting Script issues

On a lot of the printers, you can put the binder clips wherever you want when you set it up. So maybe different people are putting the clips in different locations?

On this particular printer 99% of people would attach clips in 4 corners of the heating bed. Two in front and two in rear. You can't put them on sides because they would interfere with support posts. With default script head homes at front left corner and then sweeps towards front right stopping somewhere in the middle. The ONLY Way it won't heat clip if there's no clip between front left corner and middle of the bed.

Anyway I changed it to fix this BUG:

Code: Select all

G28 ; home all axes
G1 Z15 F4000 ; lift to avoid binder clips
G1 X150 Y20 F7000 ; go to front of bed
G1 Z0.1 ; use the bed to block the nozzle to prevent ooze
G92 E0 ; zero the extruder
G1 E3 F50 ; Make a blob / Prime nozzle
G1 X100 F4000 ; wipe along the edge of the bed
G1 Y5 F4000 ; wipe along the edge of the bed
G1 X200 F4000 ; wipe along the edge of the bed
G1 Z0.5 ; lift before move to center
