BCN3D Sigma can´t read gcode file

hi there!
recently i have an issue with the gcode files of s3d with my sigma R17.
whenever i copy the gcode file of a model to the printer´s memory card the printer shows a printing time of 0:01h and 0 grams of filament with all temperature settings on 0°C and doesn´t start the print.
in s3d the complete dual extrusion model looks fine in print preview.
the same model sliced with cura shows no such problems.
some days before the s3d models worked fine, now i have no chance to get it to print.
tried out the original s3d processes without any changes, doesn´t work, too...
reinstalled the whole program, doesn´t work.
nothing works, i become a bit desperate.
other sigma owners have the same problems.
thanks in advance for help!

Do you have an earlier gcode file from S3D that you printed in the past? If you try that same file now, does it work?

Maybe the manufacturer updated the firmware and broke something

thanks for your answer!
yes, i tried several former files, they still work. and no, i haven´t updated the printer´s firmware in the meantime.
now i have a solution, it is not very comfortable but it works.
i found out that, if i open the gcode file with a text editor like windows editor and save it with a new name, it works fine without any changes in the file itself...
generally i am not more too enthusiastic with this program, because there seem lots of bugs which cause many crashes of the program, unfortunately for example, if i try to save or export profiles (all changes gone...) and so on.
still much work for the developers, i think.

No, thats not the trueness! I use S3D since version 2.x (delivered with the printer V 1.1 but updated instandly) and I have only problems by wrong settings - caused myself - .

If you are german speaking, most of the printers doesn't allow stl-files ( and acquire to the gcode file) named with the umlauts also as french accents or danish oe a.s.o.

Re: BCN3D Sigma can´t read gcode file

concerning updates:

BCN3D Tecnologies

Support text:

...
One of the features we’re proudest of is the automatic firmware upgrade. BCN3D Cura connects to your printer and compares your actual firmware version with the latest release in github. If there’s a newer version, the software downloads it and guide you in the process of uploading it to the printer.
This channel let us release more versions making it easy to the final users to update their printers. There’s no need to mess around with Arduino or other stuff.

...

Other question:
when storing the produced gcode to a SD-card, what extension the file has - *.gcode or *.x3g or others???

Re: BCN3D Sigma can´t read gcode file

hi horst,
thanks for your answers!
it did not depend on umlauts, if it crashed or not and also it didn´t, if the printer took the files or not.
the files are always stored as a ".gcode" file on the sd card.
maybe i make lots of single mistakes by working on single processes but the software should tell me that and not simply quit the service.
by the way, if i save each single change (maybe mistake) in the process immediately to the profile, every mistake works fine, the gcode file in my printer, too.
so there it doesn´t seem to react so sensitive to my mistakes. ;)
regarding updates of the printer´s firmware: if the latest firmware update is not built to eliminate absolute critical issues i prefer to wait some days and read what other users tell about their experience with it, before i update it myself. sometimes it helped me to prevent the next bugs, coming with the updates...
reg´ds,
wolf
