Filament properties aren't unique to material types

S3D wonderfully allows setting various "per material" properties. This changes certain things (such as temperatures) and not others. For the most part, most of these make sense. There's some debate on if others should be changed "per material" and those are usually NOT changed with the auto-config material (by default.)

However, there's one or two settings that I don't think anyone would disagree is a "per material" setting: On the "Other" tab, "Filament Properties": Filament Price and Filament Density.

If I spend the effort to find the density and price for the materials I use, those settings should be unique to the specific materials. Copper infused filament doesn't have the same density as ABS, and PETG is a bit more expensive (usually) than PLA. Yet, if I set the price/density for any material, it changes for all of them.

I know I can change this by exporting the .fff file and editing the xml (or just ignoring S3D's material setting and just creating a new profile for every material.) However, this is an obvious "per material" setting if the program is used as advertised. For that reason, I'm posting this in the "bugs" section and not the "feature request" section.

You can customize what is changed for the material choice following those steps. I've done this before and you only have to edit the file once. After that, you can just use the normal UI for all settings changes.

I think you might have missed the last paragraph in my post... I know I can export the .fff file, edit the xml and reimport it.

Re: Filament properties aren't unique to material types

I also think this is a big bug.
What is the use of having a section called "filament properties" that is not specific for a filament.

I love S3D but there are more parameters that are filament specific that do not change per filament type.
As an example: Layer settings because some materials cannot be printed at 0.15mm layer height or they need more top solid layers to give a good infill.

Yes - I now use different profiles for different settings/filament types but but 3 different printers that is a bit cumbersome and it makes the material selection an unused option
