Problem: temperatures get mixed between ABS and PLA

My S3D profile has three materials, PLA, ABS, and PTEG. If I change extruder temperature for PLA and then switch to ABS, S3D should remember the extruder temperature of ABS, right? That is, each material has its own independent temperature settings. I am pretty sure they used to be independent but n...

Re: "Erode First Layer" Feature Request

Please add "horizontal size compensation" as option for the first layer. You can already do this right now. I use it quite frequently. You just setup 2 processes, one for the first layer only, and the second one for the remainder of the part. Then you set the "horizontal size compensation" for the ...

This did the trick. Thanks.

This is a bug IMO. Support infill should not affect the perimeter of the infill posts, just the internal. In this case the low infill reduced the perimeter and for some posts even eliminated it completely.

Flaky manual support

I am trying to add a manual support for a large horizontal holes but it generates unexpected results. For example, the attached factory file has 4 manual support pillars but when I slice the model the output gcode contains only two of them.

Any suggestion?

For skirt, I always print 2-3 layers, Much easier to remove it than a single layer.

Re: How to separate disconnected parts?

Hi JohnOCFII, thanks for checkin this up. Proper separation can possibly be done with third party software. With openscad for example, I think it's possible to import the stl model and intersect it with a cube that contains only the desire part. Would be nice to have this working in S3D though, for ...

Re: How to separate disconnected parts?

for this example.....dead easy Use the Separate Connected Surfaces as you have already and then either: In the Models list, select hollow-cylinders and hollow-cylinders(2)..and delete them. Print what is left as normal or: In your process settings, click Select Models...and change so only hollow-cy...

How to separate disconnected parts?

Anybody knows if Simplify3D can split an STL file into disconnected parts similar to Cura and Slic3r? I want to print only one of the parts from a STL file that contains multiple parts. I did found a command called Separate Connected Surfaces but it separates the STL into surfaces, not parts. For ex...

Re: "Erode First Layer" Feature Request

Thanks Carl. Good to know that S3D actually reading this, even if they don't respond here. I experiment with the erosion concept and it seems to work very well. I used a test cube when a few bottom layers eroded and could get very clean cube with yet 'squashed' and very smooth bottom layer. (Using F...
