Re: Strange thing....

I have a very similar problem. No matter which file (STL or OBJ) I try to open, Simplify3D will complain about "Cannot auto arrange. Largest part exceeds build dimensions". I removed the option to auto-arrange, and while it will not complain anymore, the objects will not be visible at all. From the "inspector" for objects the scale, size and/or position will be at a very high number (typically 9999,0% or 999999,00 mm), trying to change will not make any difference.

However when I try to import the file using the "Recent Model" menu, the objects import just fine (including using the "center and arrange" button).

To show that it is not related to the models I have used, I created an object using the "Add-In" for converting a bitmap to 3D-model. Exporting that as an STL and importing it into Simplify3D, will also be impossible – except using the "Recent Model".

I attack here both the factory (after "Import Model" and after "Recent Model"), including the STL-file.

Re: Strange thing....

That STL file imports fine for me. I have no idea why it would import differently for you vs me, unless you have some import actions or something setup

Re: Strange thing....

Same problem for me on OSX. Software worked like a charm for one day.
Now, each time I try to import model, I have an error. Sliding same file from finder works well.

Re: Strange thing....

Got the same problem on version 3.0.2 on OSX. Worked without any problems (except for the usual connection ones) for months and now I can't import a single design. The drag'n'drop workaround works though.

Re: Strange thing....

I have the same issue with a Mac. I'll get the error but when I can import, if i try to import multiple things, I'll just get repeats of the first object.

Re: Strange thing....

Same issue here.

Brand new user to Simplify3D. Bought it and any STL I import gives me the same error with the inspector being all out of whack showing 9999 for all offsets and sizes.

On a mac here too with version 3.0.2, seems like a bug :( Anyone have any tips before I head off to contact support?

Re: Strange thing....

Same issue here. Mac OSX with Simplify 3.1.0. Importing files sometimes cause them to have incorrect (9999.0) width/depth/height. They don't appear on screen and can't be auto-arranged (or printed). Dragging and dropping the same file works fine.

Any updates/fixes for this?

Re: Strange thing....

So I raised a support ticket with simplify3d. It's acknowledged as a bug but no solution as of yet, they said they'll alert me when it is fixed.

One thing that I do now that somehow works 8 times out of 10 so far is dragging and dropping the file in.

So don't use import model via the file menu or the button and just drag and drop your stl onto the work area.

Still worth raising a support request though imo as at least it's not just me suffering with the issue and they'll hopefully put more priority towards fixing it.

Re: Strange thing....

I have this problem on my iMac, but not on my MacBook. Both are running OSX 10.11.6. On the iMac, I only get the message if I use the "import" button so far. I can import the same model on the MacBook. I can also drag and drop the file into Simplify3D on the iMac and it will work (or I have not had it not-work so far). I turned in a support request too.

Re: Strange thing....

I was having exactly the same issue with anything I tried to import. Finally resolved it by re-running the configuration assistant (Help -> Configuration Assistant)
