Qidi X-Pro Amazon review with potentially useful settings...

Here's a factory file that hopefully contains 2 processes, one for the left and one for the right, both for PLA temps/settings. The only real difference beyond the choice of extruder is one line in the startup script, which apparently controls the extruder motor during the initial pass (I'll look more into this at some point).

The FFF files appear completely pointless. I'm assuming that the factory file contains the processes I've created, which is what I wanted to give you. Honestly, there appears to be no way to export an individual process. I write software and build hardware for a living, so this kind of thing really sets me on fire, especially given the small effort required by the developer. Anyway, enough complaining for now.

Let me know if this gives you what you wanted. If not I can put them in a text file and send them over.

It's working! I have it set to high quality, so I'm running a 1 inch cube and a test piece that should interface with a machined part if it's dimensionally correct. So far, the edge quality is much better than with the Qidi software.

Next question:

I printed out a 1 inch cube using the high quality settings. When measuring it with a micrometer, it's about .995 on each side depending on whether it's measured at the top or in the middle.

Is there a master setting that consistently compensates for the -0.5% scaling error outside of scaling every STL at the time of import?

Good to hear that you got things working. I'm not sure about the scaling, but you can adjust the extruder multiplier until you achieve the correct dimensions. Sounds like it's close though, maybe bump it up to 1.01 or 1.02, print, and adjust up/down from there. You may also want to fix the extruder width instead of using the "auto" setting. I haven't played with that setting enough to say one way or the other.

BTW, If you find your golden settings for PLA, please post.

I was just browsing around the print troubleshooting guide they have on this site, it covers quite a few issues. If you find that the extrusion multiplier is not the issue, go to the "other" tab and take a look at the horizontal size compensation setting. You can use that to scale up/down in the XY plane. That'll definitely fix your problem. I was having some "pimple" problems on the edges of various prints. Enabling a 0.2mm coast appears to have fixed that issue.

I downloaded the file and loaded the profile into S3D on my Mac...worked fantastically! The prints I am getting with it using a roll of the qidi-supplied PLA are significantly better than those produced with QIDIprint. This shouldn't be surprising, though, considering that QIDIprint is based upon an old version of Cura (2.6 IIRC) which wasn't particularly good to begin with.

Now, if QIDI could get the USB printer interface working so that I could hook the X-pro to OctoPrint on my OctoPi server, I'd be a happy camper! I have been working with the nice folks at QIDI for the last month or so, and keep nudging them as often as I can without being a PITA.
