Slicer skipping 2 layers

Hello Everyone!

I am trying to print a simple component with my Modix Big 60, with a profile that I've been succesfully using for almost two years now.
There is a very interesting error however in the slicer preview.

I suspect there is something wrong wth the STL, but at the time I don't have the analytic geometry. Print requestor will send it to me later, but in the meantime, what do you think might cause this? I've never seen a skip like this.

I tried adjusting perimeter line width and count, layer height and infill though admittedly I didn't try for too long. I have also not tried sending the gcode to see what happens.

Thanks,
M

Re: Slicer skipping 2 layers

This looks like a mesh related issue.
I've tried these two options and both worked:
1. Mesh > Separate Connected Surfaces, then slice again.
2. OR select 'Alternating Fill' for the Slicing Region Repair Mode (Advanced tab-> Slicing Behavior).

You can read more about it here:https://www.simplify3d.com/resources/ar ... sh-errors/

Re: Slicer skipping 2 layers

Hello, and sorry for the very late reply.

It was indeed a mesh issue, I have taken the object and remodeled it in an analytic geometry sofware, then exported the tesselated body from there again. It worked.

Re: Slicer skipping 2 layers

For anyone else reading this threat in the future this is an easy way to add to your tool chain to repair issues like this especially because sometimes complex models that I create in tinkercad have some weird issues

It requires using prusa slicer not to slice the model just to fix the model I still prefer simplify 3D I just know how it works and I'm more comfortable with it

However when I have a problem with a model sometimes simplify 3Ds correction algorithms just can't handle it

So I open the model and prusa slicer first it'll tell you in a bottom right hand corner if there were any errors and if it corrected them Even if it doesn't show any errors try right clicking the model and select repair with Windows algorithm after that's finished right click the model again and go export STL and either overwrite the existing one or create a variant so that you can go back if you want to while you're in here you can also simplify the model a little bit if it's too complex or too large right click model click simplify model and set it for very high this way you don't lose any detail unless the model is already heavily decimated then don't do that.

Now bring the model back into simplify 3D and you're golden.
