Re: XYZprinting Davinci 1.0

It's been awhile since this thread was active and S3D has changed versions.

I tried following the settings in this thread but they don't matchup well with the current settings.

Can someone please post what they are using for FAST, Medium and High for a Davinci 1.0?

It would be great if we could have a place to post .fff files with notes.

Thanks!

Have you tried the profile included with s3d yet? I couldn't see them at first, but was told to do a Help > Reset All Settings (note to export any custom profiles first, as this will bring the software back to factory defaults) and all the new profiles populated the list, including one for the da vinci 1.0 and 2.0.

Re: XYZprinting Davinci 1.0

Yes,

I looked at that profile but it seemed very conservative compared to the last one posted here.

It pretty much mimics the standard XYZWare / Slicer one.

When I populated the one by chath (as close as I could) the time to print was reduced was greatly reduced (max speed of 4000).

I was just curious about all the other little tweaks.

Thanks

Re: XYZprinting Davinci 1.0

Hello everyone! I'm new to the 3D printing world, but old in age - yeah, a bad combination! :) I purchased a Davinci 1.0 several months ago, but never got to seriously explore its capabilities. Basically, just downloaded .stl files from the web, or made something in tinkercad, and tried to print them. Some printed okay, but most didn't do so well. After reading so many good things about it, I really wanted to give the Simplify3D software a try. I got it a day ago, and it sure looks way better than the XYZPrinting Software the Davinci came with. However, I haven't been able to make it print as good as I've read in many posts that it can. I'm using the Davinci printer profile included in the S3D software, but I was hoping there was a better profile for it.

Anyway, thank you for all of your suggestions posted here! Hopefully, one of the 3D printing Gods here can come up with a better profile for the Davinci 1.0 some time soon. ;)

Hello and welcome.
Go to this link http://forum.simplify3d.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1943 . My post there is the 2nd one and I have a profile there I used to do the print pictured.

Re: XYZprinting Davinci 1.0

Just bought S3D and started playing. Saw this thread and figured I'd give these settings a shot... Not as bad as I expected! Everything moved so fast, I didn't thing there was a chance of decent results. Would be cool to see these translated to the latest version (there were some numbers that really didn't line up).

Top part is pretty much the default (lowered extruder temp by 10°). The other is with the settings noted above.

This is a small part (1" x 0.75"), so, keep that in mind. Also, the infamous, white filament.

Sorry for the late reply, but I've been super busy lately. No time to play with the printer. Thank you for your reply. I'll try it out right now. :D

Re: XYZprinting Davinci 1.0

Chath, I tried to configure mine with the info you posted here, but I can't find some of the parameters you listed here in my SD3 software. Could you check please? Also, the Davinci boasts that it can print down to 0.1mm, but I have not been able to print anything thinner than 0.5mm. I'm I doing something wrong, or did the XYZPrinting folks greatly exagerated the Davinci's capabilities? I don't know if I did not configure the process correctly.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

chath wrote:thanks, that's really cool. so here's what i'm using right now

.4mm nozzle
.45mm width
.2mm retract
.4 vertical lift
-.05 extra restart distance
.2mm layer height

4000mm/s speed
30% outer layer reduction
35% first layer speed
94% first layer height
2000mm/s retract
2000mm/s z speed
9000mm/s rapids

3 shells, 3 top, 3 bottom
40% infill

support:
2 layer spacing from top
1 space from bottom
72 degree overhang
10% infill
rectilinear

misc:
print islands sequentially
force retract between layer
minimum 3mm movement for retract
only retract when crossing open spaces
2% infill overlap
.93 extrusion multiplier

im still tuning the retracts, the above is from memory.

oh and im using a .80mm offset skirt 5 layers wide, 5 layers tall to prevent corner lifting up

NOZZLE WIPE 5mm
if theres a checkbox for forcing more nozzle wipes then make sure it's checked. i think it says "only wipe nozzle on external layer" or something, uncheck that so it wipes it a lot

Re: XYZprinting Davinci 1.0

It can definitely print a lot finer than 0.5mm! I print at 0.15-0.2mm all the time and the results looks great, especially considering the price! What settings do you need help finding? Everything he mentioned is in the FFF settings window (click "edit process settings")
