Printing Troubles...

Hello! I am brand new to Simplify3D and first off let me say that it ha cured the mass majority of the issues I have been having with my custom modified CTC 3D Printer.

My printer was a CTC DUAL which I took apart and rebuilt with a Bowden configuration and a Prometheus V2 J-Head hot end. I flashed my firmware to Sailfish 7.7 and installed several other major upgrades to the x,y,z axis. My printer has in general been giving me some trouble with clogging my nozzle mid prints, after switching to Simplify3D I was able to resolve this by lowering my extrusion multiplier which in turn prevents clogging mid print and seems to prevent the formation of a small nub on the end of the filament which in turn is what blocks my nozzle. I am printing in Makerbot True Red PLA at 215c on a heated glass bed (only kept warm).

Thank You!

Re: Printing Troubles...

lol, thank you! You should of seen what this printer was spitting out before I did my upgrades to it... I as beyond scared to do the work that I did as it is my first 3D printer but I'd say I did really well considering.... If only I could solve some of these other minor issues. I'm starting to wonder if my filament is to blame.

The right Pikachu in the photo was prior to switching to Simplify3D and making several changes to temps etc... I am still getting weird blobs at retraction sites... Tried adjusting those values to no avail...

Re: Printing Troubles...

Hi Pyr_X I had a similar problem when I first started using S3D (sorted out heaps of others thou :D ) ... In my case it turned out I were trying to extrude too much filament through too smaller nozzle ... I fixed it by throwing away the 0.2mm ones and going to a 0.4mm nozzle.
