Re: Slicer behavior for thin walled sections

I think that as designers and operators who have a decent grasp of what we want that we should be able to choose to either ignore wall limitations or to accept them. surely, as suggested, a tick box allowing the operator to choose to either have the accuracy and the design flaws highlighted or to s...

Re: Layers Peeling Apart in ABS

Also make sure you have your fan turned off. Fan is needed for PLA, but if you use it for ABS it will make it cool too fast. I have been printing ABS without an enclosure just fine. Temp 245, bed 110/105, .2-.3 layer height. Ofcourse I might imagine if I print something really tall might have a prob...

Re: Sharp corner problems

One thing you could try with your current settings is "Avoid crossing outline for travel movements" in the Adv tab. But if this is hollow in the center like a vase then I would rather try "Single outline corkscrew printing mode (vase mode)" in the Layer Tab. That would stop most retractions and big ...

Re: Print times fix

It would be nice to add a firmware adjust area. So that you could input your set firmware accelerations, etc so that Simplify3d could take those into account when printing. My times were not too off, but then I adjusted acceleration down quite a bit to get rid of some ghosting. This makes the time r...

Re: Retraction vs Coast at End

Yeah generally I would be adjusting retraction distance and speed to to combat stringing and some blobbing first. Coast I would only use is I was getting blobs at the end of the line and higher retraction settings weren't working. A very small negative restart distance could help with blobs at the b...

Re: Bubbles on print

First thing I would try would be to up your retraction speed. I have seen much higher work. Mine is like 3000. Try it just to see if you can get a noticeable difference then work downward instead of just slight upping it everytime. However... I think that might not be the problem (I just mentioned i...

Re: Start Points..seam hiding?

Thanks for the link! I have used them to try different seam positions. I think I was just wondering how 'smart' the position of the random ones were. If it was taking into account concavity or if it truly was just placing them random or just for speed. Because if not I think an algorithm to try and ...

Re: How to tune seam?

They are in the beginning of the perimeter. If its at the beginning of the layer/line use a very small negative extra restart distance like -.1 If you go to far it will start creating a divot. If its at the end of line then you could possibly use a small coast value, but I would try upping your spe...

Start Points..seam hiding?

Does Simplify3d have a Start Point setting like slic3r's "Nearest"? Start Points is the same as Seam Position in slic3r. One of the seam position settings is called "Nearest", here is a description: Nearest - This will try to choose a concave non-overhang vertex so that the seam is hidden in the ins...
